The first Taycan we drove — a Turbo S, black, borrowed for a weekend in 2020 — did not make sense. It was too heavy. It was too quiet. It cornered like a 911 and stopped like a train and made a synthesized noise that was neither present nor absent. We returned it feeling like we had missed something obvious.
Five years later, we understand. The Taycan is a Porsche made under the assumption that the driver already believes in Porsches and wants to keep believing. It doesn't argue for itself. It just is.
The GTS Sport Turismo is the version we'd own. The wagon body puts weight where you want it. The dampers are sharper. And the steering is honest in a way that the Turbo variants, for all their speed, are not.
It is not a car that will win over a skeptic. But if you're already convinced, it is one of the great performance wagons of the decade.
